Thousands of people remembered Sunday the first social reformer of Andhra Pradesh, Palnati Brahma Naidu, at the Chapa Kudu program in Karampudi of Guntur district.

Brahma Naidu initiated the Chapa Kudu program to eliminate caste differences by conducting a “mass feeding system” where people from all sections sat together in mats to eat food. Thousands of people have joined Veerula Gudi from various locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to participate in the traditional Karampudi festival.

On the first day of Friday, the participants hoisted the flag and on the second day, Saturday, they prayed Palnati Ayudalu and began procession with weapons in the temple. On the third day, Sunday, a key ceremony, Chapa Kudu, was held at the Palnati War Field.

Prime Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recalled the Chapa Kudu program launched by Palnati Brahma Naidu during the inauguration of the Nagara Vanam program in Guntur on 4 November.

TDP Macherla district president K Chalama Reddy, former Macherla market president Yaganti Mallikharjuna Rao, Karampudi S Yesu Ratnam sarpanch and others participated in the program.
